Coot is a toolkit for Macromolecular Crystallography and model-building.Coot uses widgets (with the gui builder glade), mmdb, clipper, and OpenGL, together with a new approach to map contouring and importing/creation and other modelling and building operations. The binary packages for Microsoft Windows are available below. These include SHELX and WinCoot (version 0.8.9.2) as optional components. If you are planning to install SHELX, please register and confirm your agreement to conditions of use at the SHELX web site. Note that the conditions are different for academic and for-profit users. Coot is one of many malicious programs that belong to the Djvu ransomware family. Ransomware is a form of software that blocks access to data by encryption. Victims who have files encrypted by ransomware cannot regain access unless they decode them with a decryption tool and/or key. Coot is the standard program for model-building into density, written chiefly by Paul Emsley. The extensions included with the PHENIX GUI allow control of Coot from PHENIX, including automatic loading of models and maps.
