The founder of World Community Service Centre, Philosopher Vethathiri Maharishi was born in 1911 in a seaver's family at a village called Kuduvancheri, 30km south of Chennai. Even as a small boy he acquired an incessant inquiry as to Who is God? What is life? Why poverty prevails among human population? He was enlightened at the age of 35 as a result of his ceaseless efforts through meditation and research. He was abosrbed in the philosophies putforth by some siddhas of Tamil Nadu like Thirumoolar, Thirivaluvar, Thayumanar and Vallalar. He developed the Manavalakalai practices as an education for life, for the human community, for acquiring prosperity, contentment and peace. It is a spiritual education and practice, to guide us for achieving the basic qualities for attainment of contentment and realization. Vethathiri Maharishi has written more than 2000 spiritual and philosophical poems. More than 75 of his Tamil and English books are also published by Vethathiri Publications. Further, a monthly treatise named as 'Anboli' is also being published for more than 35 years.
Vethathiri Maharishi founded the World Community Service Centre in the year 1958. The guiding principle or the goal of this centre is to inculcate individual Peace, Family Peace and World Peace. About 225 trusts are affiliated to The World Community Service Centre and are serving the society in India and abroad. Further, a trust known as 'Brain Trust' (a common platform of the intellectuals) is also functioning at Aliyar. This system of yogic practices are taught to all, beyond the barriers of sex, religion etc. Students of both sex are also trained in this system for their successful career, happy and peaceful life. This service is rendered by the World Community Service Centre through its affiliated trusts sprerad all over. In 1984, Vethathiri Maharishi Kundalini Yoga and Kaya Kalpa Research Foundation was founded at Aliyar near Pollachi - Tamil Nadu.
